Diesel Mechanic *Experienced*
Position Overview
HH Construction are seeking a skilled and experienced van mechanic to join our team and play a crucial role in maintaining & repairing our fleet of vehicles. The ideal candidate should have an understanding of van mechanics, diagnostics, and repair techniques. Also, a commitment to quality workmanship and safety.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct inspections and diagnostics of vans to identify mechanical, electrical, and technical issues.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, tire rotations, brake inspections, and fluid checks to ensure vans are in good condition.
- Repair and replace van components and systems, including engines, transmissions, brakes, suspension, steering etc.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical problems using diagnostic tools and techniques.
- Keep accurate records of all maintenance and repair work performed on each van.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment in accordance with safety standards.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines while performing maintenance and repair tasks.
- Assist in maintaining an inventory of parts, tools, and equipment needed for efficient repairs.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, colleagues, and fleet managers to provide status updates on repairs and maintenance tasks.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; formal technical training or certification in automotive mechanics is preferred.
- Proven experience as a van mechanic, with a solid understanding of van systems and components.
- Ability to use diagnostic tools and equipment to identify and address mechanical issues.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically in order to diagnose complex problems.
- Knowledge of safety protocols and able to adhere to safety guidelines.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Effective communication skills to explain technical issues and repairs to non-technical staff
- Valid driver’s license is required to move vans within the facility.
Salary rates are to be negotiated.
